About us

Our Story

Built on tradition, growing in Canada.

Some restaurants are just places to eat — but Moonlight Indian Kitchen & Banquet was created with a deeper purpose. It is a dream brought to life by an Indian family, built on love, culture, and the belief that food brings people closer. Located in the heart of South Edmonton, Canada at Suite 304, 2320 23 Ave NW.

Our journey began on a very special day — Mother’s Day, May 12, 2024. In every Indian home, especially in Punjabi and Gujarati families, a mother’s kitchen is the soul of the house — filled with love, care, and unforgettable flavors. Moonlight was inspired by that same emotion: a place where every guest feels the comfort of home and where every meal carries the warmth of a mother’s touch.

Being part of Canada’s diverse and positive community, especially for Indians living far from home, means everything to us. We wanted to create a space where traditions stay alive and where every visitor feels proud of their roots while embracing their new home.

Conveniently located just steps away from the Meadows Recreation Centre, reaching us is easy, with plenty of free parking right at our entrance on 23 Ave NW. Whether it’s a peaceful family dinner, a wedding celebration, a baby shower, a birthday, or simply a craving for authentic North Indian flavors — Moonlight is here to welcome you.

The Journey

From a single tandoor to two grand halls.

Founder Dipul Patel arrived in Canada in 1996 with a shared dream — to bring the true taste of India to a country they proudly call home. What began with humble beginnings, a small kitchen, and a passion for authentic flavors soon grew into something much more than just a restaurant.

As the community grew, so did Moonlight. From a small space, it expanded over the years, and by 2024 it had outgrown two locations. In 2025, The Celeste Hall was introduced — an 8,000 sq ft banquet venue created for weddings, celebrations, and gatherings that reflect the spirit of Indian life in Canada.

Today, the kitchen is led by Harjeet’s daughter, Aisha, a professionally trained chef who blends family tradition with modern techniques. The recipes remain rooted in generations of heritage, and the warmth behind every dish continues to define who we are.
